If you use the delay timer you won’t be able to remove the paddle before the baking though, so there will be a hole in the bottom of the loaf. I always try to remove the paddle whenever I can but for mornings I decide not to be too fussy and just be grateful for fresh bread.
The time for completing a whole loaf is more or less 3 hours, from kneading to the end of baking. Baking white bread in rapid mode takes 2 hours, which is the fastest cycle for the bread machine. I prefer not to use the rapid mode though, since the normal mode will give the bread a better texture.
Note that whole wheat bread and multi-grain types will take the longest to bake, and if you want to add fruits and nuts there’s a beep to tell you when to do so.
